The winners of 2015

We're delighted to announce that at the LABC West of England regional awards on Thursday 19 June that two of our projects were victorious!

Winner:
Best social or affordable new housing development

Alliance Homes' Severn Road, Portishead project, part of the Homes and Communities Agency's (HCA) national affordable housing programme, was awarded 'Best social or affordable new housing development' by the panel of judges.  The scheme was delivered through the local Key West Consortium in partnership with North Somerset Council, to develop much needed family accommodation for the area.  The project has helped to change the face of social housing due to its contemporary style and innovative design.

Winner:
Best customer partnership with a local authority building control team

In conjunction with Wilmott Dixon, NSBC won a second award in acknowledgement of the successful partnership that has spanned nearly 5 years and has seen over 30 projects delivered on time and to budget.  Partnership projects ranged for refurbishment, new build schools, children's centres, libraries, community buildings, refurbished offices and catering facilities.

What are the LABC Building Excellence Award?

Each year we nominate a selection of projects we’ve assisted with for the prestigious Local Authority Building Control Awards.  Our surveyors are constantly on the lookout for interesting and innovative local projects that they feel are of an exemplary standard to go forward.  These nominations will then compete against projects submitted from across the country.

Finalists are not judged on architectural beauty, but on the "Excellence" shown from a construction and technical building control point of view. The Local Authority Building Awards showcase buildings and design teams that have had to tussle with technical issues, difficult sites, innovative and creative solutions.

If you are in the middle of, or about to start a project and think it has what it takes to rival others in one of the categories listed below, then please have a chat with your surveyor.

Remember the building control work has to have been carried out by us to qualify for these awards.
